Checking in-

Hello all! We are doing well and are kind of making a dent in the mountains of boxes. We still don't have phone or internet at the house so I can't share any photos. (I am doing this from work.) We should have a phone line on the second so I am hoping to update here then.

There is still work to do but it is mostly trim work. We are very happy to be home but also exhausted from the work! We are looking forward to a day when we have nothing to do!

Greetings!

I apologize to everyone for having neglected the blog here a bit. We have had so much happening so fast that it has been really hard to keep up. We began movng home yesterday. We got most of the stuff from the cleaning/storage company and all of the new furniture. Today David rounded up a bunch of help and we moved out of the rental. We will be spending the weekend trying to get most of everything situated. On Monday the cleaning/storage company will bring the remainder of our stuff. The house isn't finished, there are still lots of little things to finish. Remember Del, the one I mentioned was saving my wood? Well, he will still be around finishing things up. He was joking that he may end up like Eldon on Murphy Brown, never leaving. I have bad news for him, Eldon ended up being the nanny too!! Ha Ha.

Our internet and phone (ugh and Direct TV) didn't get hooked up yet, so we will be checking in from the courtesy of the free internet at St Louis Bread Company and our work places. Everyone cross your fingers for fast hookups, otherwise we just might go crazy!!

The wood floors in the foyer, living room, hallway, and dining room are done. We are really pleased with how they have turned out. They are the original wood floors. Even though they were stripped and sanded, you can still see the faint outline of where the original floor cloths were.

The kitchen cabinets are more than halfway up. We are really happy with how it is looking!

This section on the side, when finished is supposed to look like a freestanding hutch. I saw a picture in a cabinet catalog and fell in love with the idea. Hopefully the cabinet guy got the plan right. Right now I am a little worried about the top not looking right. I think those top cabinets were supposed to be deeper. . . we will see.

After being painted the whole upstairs plaster job had to be re-done because of quality issues. It is finally done and painted again. The plaster looks great this time. I think Anna is really loving her new HUGE room.

Fill your world with color. . .

I really love color and I was determined that each room would have color and that no two, even if similar would be the same shade. So far we have:

In the upstairs bathroom: Frolic.

In the upstairs sitting room: Wave Crest

In Anna's room: Celery Sprig (There is plaster work still going on there, which is what all of the white patches are.)

In the kitchen: Lemon Souffle
I want to point out here the woodwork around the new windows in the second photo. Del has built and stained new window trim to match exactly our existing window. It looks so good in person, you would never guess it was new.

In mine and David's bedroom: Reverie Pink (I just can't get a good photo of this color, it is a very soft shade of pink.)

Emma's room: Sweet Corn

Downstairs bath: Mystic River (It is a little more periwinkle in person.)

Living room: Rejuvenate (a great sagey green!)

The dining room and foyer: Celery Ice. . . but we don't love it. It came out so light that you can barely tell there is color. . . so we have picked out new colors. For the dining room, Chianti. Yep, imagine it, a very lush wine/red color. And for the foyer, Egyptian Nile. It is very similar to the living room color, but about 2 shades DARKER. Both are colors we really liked but were kind of afraid to choose because they were deeper colors. Instead we went with the second choice. You know they always say to trust your first instinct. Hopefully next week I will have photos of those colors up.

In other developements. . .
You can see that the wood floor work is being done. Today they actually put color down. David said it looks really good. I can't wait to go over and see it.

The kitchen cabinets are going up. So far they are looking really good.

The flooring is down in the bathrooms and kitchen.

The new trim is all in upstairs.

We are so close, the light at the end of the tunnel is almost within reach.

Outside. . .

The new color is down on the porch floor. It is hard to tell in the photos, but it is kind of a sagey green.

Yay! We finally have gutters!
